GA Man Arrested After Mother, 73, And Companion Found Fatally Shot At Home
A Georgia man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his elderly mother and her companion.
GEORGIA — A man has been charged with murder after police found his 73-year-old mother and her 75-year-old companion fatally shot in their Georgia home, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Bernard Rittenhouse, 55, of Waycross, was arrested Tuesday on two counts of felony murder and one count of burglary, according to the GBI. A relative called 911 when they found Virginia D. Thomas, 73, and Charles M. Barnett, 75, dead in their Waycross home.
Waycross is located more than 230 miles southwest of Atlanta.

“Deputies arrived and found the couple deceased with apparent gunshot wounds,” officials said in a news release.
Thomas was taken to the Ware County Jail on Tuesday, according to the release.
