"We are proud to say this year's edition is the most scientific ever—with our 1,800 panelists submitting more than 85,000 evaluations over our 10-year scoring criteria," Derek Duncan and Stephen Hennessey wrote for the publication.
Among the top 100 were Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta and Ohoopee Match Club in Cobbtown.

"Golf Digest" noted Augusta's longevity in hosting the Masters Tournament since 1934. The local golf club took the second spot on the top 100.
Meanwhile, the Peachtree Golf Club jumped five spaces from No. 30 in its previous ranking.
"When it opened, Peachtree measured in excess of 7,200 yards, extremely long for that era. It boasted the longest set of tees in America (to provide flexibility on holes) and the country’s most enormous greens (to spread out wear and tear)," the publication said of the Peachtree Golf Club.
The Ohoopee Match Club is making its debut at No. 34 on the top 100 this year.
Ron Whitten, "Golf Digest" architecture editor emeritus, said Ohoopee's rolling terrain and sandy soil is "perfect for drainage and firm, fast conditions."
