Here’s Where Designers In GA Are Going For The Best Antique Finds

If you're looking for the best secondhand stores to root through, HGTV has recommendations for the best GA antique shops.

ATLANTA, GA — You never know what you might find picking over someone else’s family heirlooms and other cast-offs at Georgia antique and second-hand finds.

If you’re looking for the ultimate secondhand store experience, HGTV says to head to Scott Antique Markets, Foxglove Antiques and Peachtree Battle Antiques & Interiors, all in Atlanta; or Clutter, in Savannah.

The stores on the new HGTV list are a haven for people who enjoy the thrill of the hunt for items with unique historic or aesthetic appeal and other hidden treasures, according to design professionals who haunt them.

For the “Antique Stores Designers Love, State by State,” HGTV asked professional designers from around the country to share their favorite local gems for antique, vintage, and thrifted decor. HGTV said with an antique-filled home in Perry, Georgia, and A Place to Call Home — his own shop, headquartered downtown — James Farmer has elevated treasure-hunting to an art.

“I found [the large framed art] at Scott Antique Markets, and there was a sister piece — probably from a scenic mural. They were not the same size or scene, but similar,” Farmer said. I had them framed and one was perfect for this breakfast room — and the other found its way home with me!"

If you’re looking for a longer, multi-state road trip, check out these Florida stores recommended by HGTV: Show Pony Palm Beach and Casa Branca in Palm Beach, and Circa Who in West Palm Beach.

Tapped to design a space in the 2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Palm Beach, Florida, designer Nadia Watts immersed herself in Florida’s fabled antique and vintage market. “I felt it was essential to work with local resources for the furniture, objects and accessories — not only to ground the design in a sense of place, but also to highlight the incredible shops in the area,” she told HGTV.

“A vintage Biedermeier burlwood table from Show Pony Palm Beach commands the center of the space, its graceful curves and patina evoking timeless elegance,” Watts said. “Surrounding it, playful vintage Lucite chairs from Circa Who add both color and a touch of nostalgia; their translucent forms catching and reflecting light, creating a dynamic interplay with the room’s natural brightness. Unique, one-of-a-kind objects from Casa Branca are layered in a sense of charm and discovery, making the space feel personal and curated. Together, these pieces strike a balance between grounded history and airy whimsy, inviting conversation and curiosity.”

“The best things to gather as you crisscross the country are, of course, the memories you make along the way,” HGTV said. “New-to-you home finds that’ll make your own space even cooler, now — those are pretty good, too.”
