AUGUSTA, GA — In with the new, but not quite out with the old. That's the theme at the 2022 version of the Masters.

Still fresh No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who reached the top on March 27, will look to keep his ranking at Augusta National this weekend. Meanwhile, five others have a mathematical chance to claim the No. 1 spot from him. Youth is being served as the top seven in the world golf rankings are seeking their first Masters title.

Golf isn't letting go of its older and still capable stars, though. Tiger Woods is back from a 17-month hiatus, immediately overshadowing every other storyline of the weekend. Some of the game's biggest names such as Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth are sure to be in the mix by Sunday.

It all gets started at 8 a.m. ET Thursday when Jose Maria Olazabal and J.J. Spaun tee off.
