Nude Prison Escapee Found Flagging Down Vehicles In GA

HAMILTON, GA — A male inmate who recently walked away from a work detail was found nude and flagging down vehicles at Lick Skillet Road in Harris County, authorities said.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the work camp inmate was assigned to the local prison when he left his detail around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Idle Hour Boat Ramp area in Hamilton.

The site was near schools, but authorities said a Code Red alert was not issued due to criteria.

About 15 minutes later, the inmate was found naked and flagging down vehicles at Lick Skillet, authorities said.

A resident then notified a nearby deputy, who was able to make contact with the inmate, authorities said.

The inmate was taken into custody and back to the prison camp, where he was turned over to prison staff without incident, authorities said. The inmate was not identified.
