COVINGTON, GA — Newton County authorities have identified the gunman accused of targeting and fatally shooting two Walmart workers and injuring another Friday in Covington.

Authorities said Khalaf Barksdale, 21, of Conyers, and Akeela Clarke, 19, of Covington, died in the shootings.
A 29-year-old Covington man, who was initially critically injured after being shot inside the store, was in stable condition, authorities said.

Eduh and all three victims worked at Walmart, authorities said.
Deputies responded to the shootings around 1:30 a.m. At the time, authorities said the store was closed to the public, but employees were inside.
Eduh left the building, retrieved a gun and went back into the store, authorities said. He then found Barksdale inside the store and fatally shot him, authorities said.
Then, Eduh was accused of shooting and injuring the second coworker before going to the Emerson home, where he was accused of shooting and killing Akeela Clarke.
"This morning, my beloved sister was taken from us in a tragic and wrongful manner due to yet another senseless act of gun violence. Akeela was one of the most vibrant and joyful individuals you could ever meet, and this tragedy will leave an enduring wound in our family," sister Destiny Clarke wrote a GoFundMe to collect funding for Akeela Clarke's funeral.
Eduh fled Georgia and shot himself during a standoff with the Aiken County (South Carolina) Sheriff's Office and South Carolina troopers, authorities said. He was in critical condition at a hospital, authorities said.
“There’s no place for violence in our stores,” Walmart said in a statement to Atlanta News First. “We’re focused on taking care of our associates and supporting law enforcement with their investigation.”
The Walmart was closed to the public on Friday, authorities said. A motive in the shootings was not revealed.
