Woman Found Dead In Waste Container At GA Transfer Station
The search for a Georgia woman led authorities to a transfer station, where her body was found among waste, they say.
SUMMERVILLE, GA — A Georgia woman was found dead in a waste container at a Summerville transfer station, both city and county authorities said in a joint news release shared by WZQZ on Saturday.
Chattooga County and Summerville authorities say they were first dispatched to a call of a possible stolen vehicle around 2 p.m. Friday at a West Summerville home.
Earlier that morning, authorities said Kimberly Lindsey left in her grandmother's vehicle. They added they were unable to successfully contact her family at the time.

Sometime later in the day, Lindsey's family members found the vehicle and personal items at a Commerce Street store near dumpsters behind the store, authorities said.
"Family reported that it was very common for Ms. Lindsey to frequent dumpster locations and attempt to retrieve things she wanted to collect," authorities said in the release.

Lindsey's boyfriend told authorities he had to help her out of a waste container the day before at a different location, they said. This was "partly due to some level of prescription intoxication," authorities said.
After noticing the dumpsters were empty, authorities said they discovered a local waste management company had emptied the containers earlier Friday morning and took the contents to a Chattooga transfer station after 1 p.m.
Authorities said they then searched a waste transport trailer at the station where they found Lindsey's body among waste.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office will examine Lindsey.
“This was not the outcome that we were hoping for," Chattooga County Sheriff Mark A. Schrader said in the release. "I would like to thank all agencies and personnel for their quick response and assistance in this search. I truly believe that had the response not been so quick, and the search not been so thorough, that truck container would have been removed and transported out of county. Ms. Lindsey’s family may have never gotten closure. Please pray for this family during this terrible tragedy."
