2 Injured, Dogs Safe In Acworth Fire

A deputy was injured Tuesday while responding to the fire on Kemp Drive and a resident was also injured.

ACWORTH, GA — One man was injured and eight dogs are safe after an early Tuesday morning fire on Kemp Drive, according to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services. A deputy was also injured responding to the fire.

Firefighters and deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office were dispatched around 3 a.m. to a house fire near Woodstock and Little Ridge roads.

The fire involved two 100-pound propane tanks that were located inside of the home, according to the fire department.

When they arrived, firefighters saw smoke and an orange glow in front of the house, fire officials said.

A deputy was injured while responding to the fire, according to the fire department. The deputy's injury was not directly sustained in the fire.

The eight dogs and four residents were inside of the home at the time of the fire, fire officials said.

The injured man was taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital while the deputy was taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee. The deputy was released, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
