Acworth’s Main Street Coffee on the Rise on RocketHub
Acworth couple launches campaign to transform a Main Street wine bar into a café, gelato bar, and wine and beer bar all rolled into one.
College sweethearts Jenifer and Spencer Herron, Berry College Alumni (91’ and 92’), re-met 20 years later, married and chose Acworth as a place to make their home. An opportunity landed them when they were offered a lease on The Oak Barrel Wine Bar right in the middle of the bustling Main Street.
Jenifer and Spencer have launched a RocketHub campaign to transform the wine bar into a café, gelato bar and wine and beer bar all rolled into one to cater to the community and the growing tourists that come in the Acworth neighborhood.
Catering to the Locals and Tourists Alike
Jenifer and Spencer are building Main Street Coffee, with the slogan: “Small Town Feel, Big Town Taste.” Jenifer shares, “We feel Acworth is missing that quintessential coffee shop and ice cream parlor. We have a passion and aspiration to open a place that compliments our town, so we are going to fill this very void by combining these two necessities with the existing wine bar.”

Acworth is growing as a tourist spot, with the world’s largest travel sports destination, LakePoint Sporting Community, being built a mere three miles north of Main Street. LakePoint is estimated to bring in 4-6 million visitors a year.
The RocketHub crowdfunding campaign will help turn The Oak Barrel in to a place that has something for everyone, catering to locals and tourists alike. “The space is gorgeous with brick walls, hardwood floors, and stained glass ceilings. It needs very minimal restructuring. We are so lucky to have found this space!” says Jenifer.

Crowdfunding for Support and Success
Jenifer and Spencer aim to raise a total of $15,000 by May 22, 2014 to turn The Oak Barrel Wine Bar into their dream neighborhood hub. The proceeds would go into purchasing all the essential coffee and gelato equipment to help them start. They have done their research, completed their business plan, and have sought experts for advice. They are members of the local Small Business Association and have learned the needs and demands of the Acworth community.
Backers would get goods or rewards based on their pledge tier. Jenifer and Spencer will be giving supporters exclusive and limited Main Street Coffee mugs, freshly roasted coffee beans, name listing under the Special Friends of the Main Street Community list on the website and Facebook page. Other backers will also get their own pints of gelatos, Main Street vouchers, a wine tasting for six, and even a special invitation to the Main Street Coffee private grand opening.
They aim to collaborate with suppliers offering the best and highest in quality. Their coffee beans come from Carrboro Coffee Roasters, which is a small batch roaster offering sustainable and quality coffee from around the world. Their gelato comes from Honeysuckle Gelato, which makes their products from scratch using the freshest and finest ingredients. Meanwhile, they would continue to offer premium wine and craft beer from all parts of the globe.
