Acworth Health Park to Hold Family Fun Day

WellStar Health System's first health park opened in Acworth on Monday. The Acworth Health Park, located at 4550 Cobb Parkway NW, is a three-story, 70,000 square foot building that includes urgent care, physician practices and comprehensive medical diagnostics such as imaging, lab, pre-admission testing, cardiac and sleep.

"After 18 months of planning, design and construction, I am extremely excited about the opening of our first Health Park facility,” added Joe Brywczynski, senior vice president, Health Parks Administration. “WellStar's commitment to take comprehensive outpatient services to the communities we serve will soon become a reality. I am thankful for the input, advice and expertise received from our clinical teams, physicians, service line leadership, construction management as well as our external teams of architects and contractors."

The first floor of the health park includes an imaging center, urgent care center, laboratory, pre-admission testing and a community education/wellness center. The retail pharmacy and café also located on the first floor will open later this summer.

The Acworth Health Park will offer the local community access to . The Urgent Care Center will be staffed full-time with physicians and led by an emergency-trained physician, enabling a higher level of acuity to be treated. Patients from newborn through adulthood can be treated at the Acworth Health Park Urgent Care, which opens seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The second and third floors, scheduled to open in late August, will provide physician office space to twelve medical specialties with a strong foundation of primary care physicians: family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics and OB/GYN. Other physician specialists planned will include cardiology, pulmonary, ENT, hand surgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, general surgery and neurosurgery.

“With the addition of outpatient centers such as the WellStar Acworth Health Park, WellStar will be well positioned to respond to national health care reform initiatives such as caring for patients at an appropriate level and focusing on prevention, wellness and education,” said C.A. Bud Zborowski, vice president of Health Parks, who overseea the day-to-day operation at the Acworth facility.
