- The Alpharetta City Council will hold two meetings next week at City Hall. On Monday, the regularly scheduled meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. and an executive session will go into affect as the second meeting during a recess of the regular meeting. The executive meeting will be held to discuss litigation matters. (City of Alpharetta GA via Facebook)
- The Fulton County School System is getting about $33 million more than expected in its budget. The extra money is due to higher revenue from property taxes because of the high value of homes. More than half of a homeowners' property tax goes to the school system in Fulton County. (Alpharetta-Roswell Herald)
- Fulton County college students will have the opportunity to vote on campus ahead of the November election. The county's election board approved 36 voting locations after the ACLU of Georgia brought up concerns of voting opportunities from students and administrators. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Fulton County schools are still trying to hire teachers despite filling 97 percent of their vacancies. About 176 teaching positions – 26 special education positions included – are still open. Gonzalo La Cava, the head of human resources for the school system, says the openings are district-wide in all types of positions. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Yesterday was the last day for Alpharetta's curbside glass recycling program. Residents may dispose of glass into their trash or take the glass to be recycled at the Keep North Fulton Beautiful recycling center in Sandy Springs. The city estimates the average household will save $4.19 monthly from the canceled program. (City of Alpharetta)
