Here are the top five stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Fulton County has chosen Mission Critical Partners to implement data-driven 911 system analytics. The Emergency Communications Center will use to platform to meet the county's needs while integrating services into a central data lake. The service will analyze 911 performance and make it readily available for use. (prweb.com)
- The Fulton County Board of Education has announced a reduction in its property tax rate portion. Due to increased property values, taxes will still likely increase for county residents. The new rate will be set at 17.490 if approved on Aug. 11. This will be the lowest school tax rate in the metro Atlanta area. (Georgia Sun)
- Fulton County Schools has a total of 307 openings leading into the 2022-2023 school year. To fill those openings, the district hosted a Virtual Hiring Fair yesterday. The district is offering a variety of special education hiring incentives to fill vital positions. A variety of school districts in the metro Atlanta area are struggling to fill positions. (CBS 46)
- Alpharetta Underwriters LLC is suing Argo Group for undermining their business and leaving them "dead in the water". According to the lawsuit, Argo Group unlawfully cut Alpharetta Underwriters LLC from its clients by refusing to allow the business to underwrite housing projects with more than 25 units. Argo Group is being accused of breach of contract, indemnification, promissory estoppel, unfair competition, unfair or deceptive acts, and negligent misrepresentation through the lawsuit. - A five-acre property has been named Mayfield Park. The Milton City Council and Milton Mayor signaled support during their Monday meeting for the name change. The property was donated to the city by a developer in return for some building accommodations at the Crabapple subdivision. The property has a pond, pier, pavilion, and a trail. (City of Milton)
