- Starting yesterday, Milton voters can apply for an absentee ballot for the upcoming municipal election. This period extends through Oct. 27. In addition, if you're interested in running for City Council, the "qualifying period" started on Aug. 21, and goes through Aug. 25 at 4:30 p.m. Here is a link to more information on the upcoming elections: www.miltonga.gov/Elections (City of Milton)
- Are you interested in learning about the Milton Police Department? Check out the Milton Citizens Police Academy classes that start on Sept. 14. They run for 6 weeks, and classes are held at the department's headquarters off Highway 9. There will be interactive sessions, question and answer discussions and more. - Milton is holding a new program called “Ladies Nights.” The first session will be held this Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Community Center at Milton City Park and Preserve (1785 Dinsmore Road). There will be bunco, a trunk show from North Fulton Community Charities and more! Registration is required, and attendees are asked to bring an appetizer or dessert. - The Alpharetta Arts Commission is meeting this evening starting at 6 p.m. in City Hall. Here is a link to the agenda and packet https://bit.ly/3OJOmYF . The purpose of the Arts Commission is to promote and support cultural arts in Alpharetta. Citizens can attend the meeting in person or online. (City of Alpharetta)
- Now that school has started, please take care when driving in school zones. If the signs are flashing, the speed limit is 25. Milton Police will be watching speeds in these areas and enforcing the speed limits. (Milton Police Department via Facebook)
- There is a book sale today at the Milton Library from 1-5:50 p.m. "Over 10,000 gently used books for all ages and a large inventory of 300-piece jigsaw puzzles." Prices are very low and proceeds support programs at the library. (Friends of The Milton Library via Facebook)
