Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

1. The Milton Police Department wants to thank Valor Christian Academy; they allowed the police cadets to conduct active shooter training at the school. The cadets were joined with the Alpharetta Explorers to learn how to respond to various challenges including shooters and wounded citizens. This training will help both groups in their upcoming competitions over the next several months. (Milton Police Department via Facebook)
2. Last Saturday, attendees at Milton City Park and Preserve's by Love GOGA event had fun at a mindfulness session. After some exercises, they hung out with an African penguin, red-fronted brown lemur, a pair of hedgehogs, and a fox! 3. Is your child interested in competing in a triathlon? Today is the last day you can register for the Dawson Pediatrics Peach Kids Triathlon Championship. The event will take place this Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Wills Park pool in Alpharetta. (Dawson)
