Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- There's still time to sign up for the 26th Annual Alpharetta Mayor’s Corporate Challenge 5k! It will be in downtown Alpharetta on September 21. Participants can walk or run, and there will be a kid's fun run! The kid's run starts at 6 p.m. and the 5K race starts at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit local charities and organizations. (Mayors Challenge)
- Alpharetta is determining what improvements should be made to the city's six fire stations. They have hired Jericho Design Group to assess how to improve firefighter safety, working/living environment, storage and more. It's possible that some of the firehouses will be expanded depending on space and cost. ( Subscription - The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A 64-year-old Alpharetta woman was arrested in Forsyth County Sept. 1 for stalking and battery charges. She entered the home of her ex-husband on Stone Hill Road and told him to sit on a couch plus he could not leave for 45 minutes. She also pushed him away from the front door. The man ran out and asked a neighbor to call 911. When she had been released from the Forsyth County Jail, she had signed a release that said she could have no contact with her ex-husband. - Alpharetta Police arrested a 36 year old man for allegedly urinating on the sidewalk of North Main Street around 8 p.m. on Sept. 5. Police saw him get on a bike and drive away afterwards. He told police that he needed to use a restroom and wasn't allowed to go there. (Appen Media)

- The Milton Fire Department found a dog along Cogburn Road earlier this week. She's at the Fire Station 44, and they want to return her home. Please call 678-242-2541 if you know who owns her. This link has her picture. (Milton Police Department via Facebook)
- Several roads in the downtown Alpharetta area will be closed on September 21 because of a road race. The closures will start at 5 p.m. for some of the streets. Motorists are encouraged to avoid this area that evening. This link has a list of which streets will be closed. (City of Alpharetta GA via Facebook)
- King's Ridge Christian School Middle School Science and History students learned a lot with interactive activities this week. Sixth graders saw their own cheek cells under a microscope and fifth graders who were studying early man worked on cave painting underneath their desks. (King's Ridge Christian School via Facebook)
- Is your child interested in playing feeder basketball for Cambridge Jr. Bears? Tryouts are on September 24 for middle school students at Shoot 360 at 11415 Old Roswell Road in Alpharetta. There are teams for both girls and boys. (Cogburn Woods Elementary School PTO via Facebook)
