  1. While Alpharetta is proposing to maintain the city's current 5.75 millage rate, rising property values could result in property tax increases for residents. Tax relief is provided to citizens by a series of homestead exemptions. The city is having public hearings before finalizing the millage rate, which is required by law due to the higher property values. The hearings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, and Monday, Aug. 28. Both hearings will be at Alpharetta City Hall, located at 2 Park Plaza. 2. Mark your calendar for the Milton Historical Society's Autumn Shindig. It will take place on Sept. 17 at Wildberry Creek Farm and will feature music, local authors, antique cars, historical exhibits and farm artifacts. It will be fun for the whole family! Tickets are on sale now; contact President Jeff Dufresne at president@MiltonHistoricalSociety-Georgia.org to R.S.V.P and if you have any questions. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  3. The construction project for the new bridge on Kimball Bridge Road over GA 400 in Alpharetta is moving along. Soon, pile-driving will begin; concrete posts will be driven into the ground to support the new bridge. This process will take 6-10 days to complete and will cause a hammering noise in that area. The plan is to do this work during the day, but it could be shifted to evening depending on safety or traffic issues on GA 400. (City of Alpharetta GA via Facebook)
