- Yesterday, Jul. 26, Joakima Douglas took a video of a young black bear trying to enter multiple doors at the Avalon shopping center in Alpharetta. The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said the bear was struck by a vehicle and injured near the mall on Jul. 25. (UPI)
- According to the Georgia Department of Education, Fulton County School System students are continuing to perform better than their state and the Regional Educational Service Agency counterparts in the 2022 Georgia Milestones assessments. A Fulton Schools news release said, "The results demonstrate the continued recovery from learning disruptions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The district will utilize these results as a new baseline to build teaching and learning strategies." (MDJ Online)
- Bocado Burger at Avalon in Alpharetta has rebranded to Bocado with the return of popular menu items from the former west side Atlanta restaurant. Instead of opening another restaurant in Atlanta, restaurateur Brian Lewis decided to revamp the menu in Alpharetta. (Eater Atlanta)
- Fulton County Schools need more than 200 bus drivers. There is a bus driver shortage in the metro Atlanta area. Fulton County Schools normally have 820 bus drivers, but currently, there are only 600 drivers. (11 Alive)
- Trinity Sawyer, a UWO junior kinesiology major from Alpharetta, won two All-America awards at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championship in Ithaca, New York. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) women's gymnastics team won its 48th national title. (UWO)
