Here are the top five stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. From Aug. 2 through Aug. 4, the City of Alpharetta announced lane closures on Kimball Bridge Road between North Point Parkway and Westside Parkway. As part of the GA400 Express Lanes Project, the bridge over GA400 will be reduced to a single lane while crews prepare to replace the bridge. (Press Release Desk )
  2. On Jul. 29, the 15 Fulton County cities offered a counter-proposal to the Board of Commissioners about Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) revenue. The cities suggested cutting the county's share of LOST revenue in half to 2.45 percent. (Reporter Newspapers)
  3. Robert Bailey, a former Fulton County Schools technology director, is suing the Fulton County School District. Bailey alleged that he faced racial discrimination. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. According to a recent study, Alpharetta ranked number 82 on the "top 100 list for priciest rental cities in the United States." The study said Alpharetta's cost of living is $2,094 per month. Alpharetta is the only Georgia city to make the list. (CBS 46 News)
  5. The Alpharetta Arts Center will host a reception for "Colors of India" from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Alpharetta Arts Center, located at 238 Canton Street. The upcoming exhibit features artists showcasing the history, culture, and traditions of India. The Alpharetta Arts Center partnered with Arts Alpharetta and the India American Cultural Association for the event. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

  • There will be two Alpharetta City Council meetings on Monday, Aug. 1, at the Council Chambers at Alpharetta City Hall, located at 2 Park Plaza.
