Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- Are you interested in enjoying a comedy night and supporting local charities? Check out Southern Magnolia Charities' “Comedy on the Green” on Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Crabapple Market in Milton. The show will feature comedian and actress Caroline Rhea. Proceeds from the show will benefit Children’s Development Academy, Georgia National Cemetery Advisory Council and Meals by Grace. Tickets are on sale now; you can learn more at www.SouthernMagnoliaCharities.org.
- Milton residents can now request absentee ballots for the upcoming election. You can access the application and get additional information at www.miltonga.gov/Elections. Applications for absentee ballots can be submitted in person at City Hall and firehouses, emailed, mailed or faxed. (Subscription - The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A Milton couple is concerned that the city's potential plans to create sports fields on an adjacent property will affect their horse farm. Kyle and Cindy Hester own Seven Porches Farm on Hopewell Road, and train horses there. It's possible that the horses will be affected by lights and noise from the fields. They have started an online petition called “Stop the Hopewell Road MegaPark.” (Subscription - The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

Thankfully, the driver was able to get out of the vehicle and had only minor injuries. There were no passengers in the SUV. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)

- There will be an event on Sept. 16 to clean up the banks of the Chattahoochee River in Roswell.
