- Are you interested in purchasing back-to-school supplies that are good for our environment? Alpharetta’s Natural Resources Commission is encouraging residents to select sustainable items this school year. In addition, Levi's and the Gap run programs where customers can bring in their unwanted clothes and receive credits. That program extends the life of the returned clothing. Here is a link to more ideas on sustainable purchases. https://georgiarecycles.org/u6hi. (Subscription - The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Would your child enjoy dance classes? You can sign up for Ms. Peri's "Dance" classes; they take place at Milton City Park and Preserve. Instruction includes ballet, tap, jazz and more! Classes are on Thursday afternoons and early evening. "To sign-up, go to www.miltonga.gov/Registration and click on the "Dance" tab." (City of Milton).
- There were plans to coat the pavement on some of the roads in Milton this week to extend their life, but the roads weren't dry enough. This project will be done next week, weather permitting, to streets in Wyndham Farms, Stratforde, Cedar Farms, Champions View, Coach House Lane, Old Saddle, and Laurel Grove. Neighbors will be notified of the details including any road closures by the contractor. (City of Milton).
- The City of Milton recently purchased 40 acres of land on Hopewell Street that connects to Providence Park. The plan is to create a city sports park that include multipurpose fields, baseball fields, batting cages, trails, field lighting and a parking lot. Some of the neighbors who own properties nearby have signed a petition that opposes the development; it has 1,100 signatures. There are ongoing discussions about the use of this land between Milton residents, the Equestrian Committee and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. (Appen Media)
