Flood Warning Continues For Fulton, Forsyth Counties

A flood warning remains in effect through Sunday for Big Creek River near Alpharetta, affecting Fulton and Forsyth Counties.

ALPHARETTA, GA — A flood warning remains in effect through Sunday for Big Creek River near Alpharetta, affecting Fulton and Forsyth Counties.

A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Residents in the impacted area should take necessary precautions immediately, warned the National Weather Service.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the river is expected to rise above flood stage—which is at seven feet—just after midnight where it will crest. It will then fall below flood stage Friday evening.

Minor flooding of woodlands and fields could begin along the creek between Cumming in Forsyth County to Alpharetta and Roswell in North Fulton County, according to the NAOAA.

Flooding may also impact portions of the Big Creek Greenway near Alpharetta and some portions may become closed with around one foot of water, especially upstream and downstream from the gage on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Mill Park.

The forecast also calls for portions of the YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road to possibly flood.
