  1. A man in Alpharetta was charged $44,000 for computer services. According to the man, he had contracted with an online service for computer help. The company, "Safe Tee Soft," offered services for $180, but when the charge applied to the man's bank account, it totaled $44,180. 2. The No. 1 ranked high school football team in Alabama is visiting Alpharetta this week. Thompson High School, the reigning 7A Alabama football champions, will be playing against Buford's Wolves in what is promised to be a strong matchup. Although Thompson has its laurels, Buford is ranked highly among teams in Georgia, so it will surely be a Friday night matchup to watch. (AL.com)
  3. Checks stolen from an Alpharetta business were altered for the purposes of fraudulently cashing. A business owner who sent two checks through the mail says that thieves stole and forged the checks. The two checks, which were for $810 and $952, were sent to a Roswell address in late June but never arrived at their destination. Officers were "unable to generate any leads" from the names on the deposited checks. (Appen Media)
  4. Family and friends will gather to mourn the loss of Lorene Lord. Born in Alpharetta, Lorene passed on Sunday, Aug. 14.
