  1. "The A" in downtown Alpharetta is leaving. The landmark at the corner of Milton Avenue and Canton Street was acquired by the city in July. City officials have determined that "The A" is in a condition that prevents repainting and repairing. The City Council has asked the Alpharetta Arts Commission to bring forward a recommendation on what could replace "The A." What do you think should go in its place? (City of Alpharetta)
  2. Fulton County needs to fill 2,000 election worker positions. The positions are necessary to staff 36 polling locations for the advanced voting period and for more than 240 locations on general election day, which is Nov. 8. Poll managers are paid $400 for election day, assistant managers are paid $300, and clerks are paid $275. Advance voting poll workers are paid between $17 per hour and $21 per hour.   4. The Atlanta City Council passed an agreement to lease 700 city detention center beds to Fulton County on Monday. Residents, activists, and council members engaged in a passionate debate over whether to lease the bed spaces to Fulton County. Jail overcrowding continues to be a serious issue in Fulton County. During her tenure as Mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms had sought to close the city detention center and repurpose it into a community resource center. Click the link to read more about the agreement.   5. Ready to write a novel for the library? The Fulton County Library System has released its quarterly patron survey, so now's your chance. The two-minute survey will determine future programs and services across the county, including in Alpharetta and Milton.
