🌱 Local Company's Gasoline Leak + West Nile Virus In Fulton County

Here are the top five stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. On Friday, Jul. 22, Colonial Pipeline Co., an Alpharetta-based company, reported an estimated 2 million gallons of gasoline leaked into a North Carolina nature preserve in August 2020. The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality will receive a $5 million settlement from Colonial Pipeline for the leak. Part of the agreement requires Colonial Pipeline to complete ongoing recovery and restoration at the site. (Mooresville Tribune)
  2. Georgia Board of Health officials recently found more mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus in Fulton County and have issued a warning. Officials expect to spray within a half mile of each of the infected areas, southwest Atlanta in the Grant Park and Washington Park neighborhoods, where they found the mosquitoes in traps. Officials highly recommended that Fulton County residents check their property and empty any containers that may have standing water. (CBS 46 News)
  3. When classes begin on Aug. 8, Fulton County Schools will have eight new principles. The recently announced leadership changes are at three high schools, four elementary schools, and one middle school. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
