Daniel Blackman Visits Carrington Academy McFarland in Alpharetta to Celebrate Read for the Record Day on Oct. 26

On Thursday, Oct. 26, Daniel Blackman, senior advisor for STEM recruitment and diversity at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), visited preschool students at Carrington Academy McFarland in Alpharetta to read With Lots of Love by Jenny Torres Sanchez – a story about family, finding ways to stay connected, and sharing love across distances – as part of the school’s Read for the Record Day celebration. The all-day event was part of a global effort to highlight the importance of early literacy among young children.
Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience and celebrates and supports children’s early language and social-emotional development. The event builds an intergenerational community through reading and raises awareness around the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive literature that fosters belonging and connection by reflecting children’s own experiences as well as showing the experiences of others.
