Here are the top five stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Brand new tech equipment is coming to the city of Alpharetta. The City Council approved a quarter of a million dollars in funding for replacement of information technology equipment at the latest meeting. The funding provided will replaced 154 PCs, 80 iPhones, and 65 iPads. This is consistent with the city's normal replacement plan, where PCs and laptops are replaced every four years, and iPads and iPhones are replaced every three years. - The City of Milton will soon reopen the athletic field complex off Cox Road with a new name. The 8-acre facility was transformed over the course of months of work, and has been named Legacy Park in honor of former Milton High School coach Philip Broome. At the City Council meeting on Aug. 15, Communications Director Greg Botelho suggested that "Legacy Park" could be used to honor other influential Milton residents. (Press Release Desk)
- Milton's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board met yesterday at noon to discuss next steps for Milton City trails and the next Wall of Fame class. - Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Thrive Coworking for Food Truck Alley. From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, food trucks will be lined up along with tents from Thrive and the Chamber. Attendees can participate in raffles and giveaways. - Calling all local teens! Fulton County Library System needs Teen Advisory Board members to help decide on teen programming at the library. Serving on the TAB counts as volunteer hours for members.
