- The City of Alpharetta is currently seeking local community members to join its staff. Full-time and part-time positions like 911 Communications Officer, Bus Driver, Civil Engineer, and Firefighter are all up for grabs. - The Milton Equestrian Committee met last night to discuss two major equestrian-friendly projects in the city. One project is making improvements at Birmingham Park, including an additional parking lot, new hitching posts, and connecting trails to service the new lot. The other is a brand-new green space on 21 acres of land. The space will include a horse trailer-friendly turnaround and fencing that encloses the pasture-like area. - Tax negotiations between Alpharetta and Fulton County are reportedly not going well. At the Aug. 15 city council meeting, Alpharetta Mayor Jim Gilvin said that city leaders and Fulton County's negotiators have met twice and have failed to find an agreeable sales tax distribution. The county first proposed increasing its share of sales tax distributions by more than 600 percent over its rate from the previous 10 years. (Appen Media)
