- The Alpharetta Community Center is leaking, and in need of a retrofit. The city approved a nearly half-a-million dollar contract with Garland/DBS to do the job. The community center, located at 175 Roswell Street, has a roof with rubber roofing segments installed in 1997 which have reached the end of their lifespan, causing leaks in the roof. The new retrofit will have a 30-year warranty. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- If you're in the market for property, you can check out this list of five new houses for sale. If you're a fan of ranch-style homes, there's a three-bed, two-bath home for sale in Alpharetta for $750,000. A 2,700-square-foot home in Johns Creek is listed for $589,999. - A new $3.9 million loan program has been approved by Fulton County to benefit small businesses outside the city of Atlanta. - There's a new list of furry friends looking for their forever homes! Pups like Adelaina and Senor Max are seniors who don't take up much space and are easy-going animals. Meanwhile, cats like Garbo need your help growing up in a wild world. If you need a new pet, this is the place to look. Click the link to see all pets up for adoption. (Alpharetta-Milton Patch)
- At the city council meeting on Aug. 1, Milton residents debated whether the city should compensate the White Columns Homeowners Association for devices installed along residential streets. The HOA installed radar feedback signs in the Golf neighborhood in the community earlier this year. After installation, the association learned of a program that allows subdivisions to apply for reimbursement of half the cost of traffic-calming measures. The City Council voted 4-1 to approve the cost-share agreement, which covered $6,853 of the $12,706 total cost. (Milton Herald)
