- Are you an Alpharetta resident with a security camera? You can register them with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety free of charge. If a crime occurs nearby, you will be contacted to see if you're willing to share what your camera captured at the time of the crime. Currently, over 9,000 cameras are registered or fully integrated in the city. You can register using this link www.alpharetta.ga.us/ (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Would you like to hang out with a penguin? There will be an event his Saturday, Sept. 16 at
Milton City Park and Preserve's Community Center starting at 1 p.m. with exotic animals. Attendees will practice guided meditation, mindful movements and other exercises. You can sign up using this link www.miltonga.gov/Registration; click on the "Mindfulness" tab. When the project is finished, there will be 20 additional spots at 2006 Heritage Walk. During construction, it's possible that some spots will be closed off. - Were you stuck in traffic on GA 400 on Wednesday evening? The delay was caused by a truck carrying 40,000 pounds of frozen chicken that overturned on I-285; it was heading east in Sandy Springs. The accident, which was caused by the truck driver, affected at least six additional vehicles including a van that overturned into the frozen chicken. There were delays on I-75 as well. - The Milton Police Department has a new officer, Officer Stafford. He came to Milton from the Ellijay Police Department and is originally from Naples, Florida. He served in the Marines for four years prior to attending the police academy. (Milton Police Department via Facebook)
- Nothing Bundt Cakes in Alpharetta is having a block party this Saturday, Sept. 16, to raise funds for the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. There will be cake samples, prizes, music and more. They will match donations over $20 (up to $1,000). (Creek View Elementary School PTA via Facebook)
