  1. Three men from Forsyth County have been apprehended in connection to robberies in our area after trying to rob Simon D. Jewelers, located at 2915 Peachtree Parkway. Detectives believe that Maykel Hernandez, Giorge Navea, and Javier Guerra-Morales are linked to a South American theft group and are responsible for burglaries and attempted robberies in Alpharetta and other local cities including Canton and Marietta.   2. Kudos to Milton's Ian Schlecht, an Eagle Scout candidate who created educational signs for Providence Park. He raised over $750, created and put up signs that describe different types of trees, including their origin, maximum size and how to identify them.   3. The qualifying period for those running for office in the upcoming election in Alpharetta has ended. Here is a list of the candidates who met the requirements: Mayor: Jim Gilvin; City Council Post 4: John Hipes; City Council Post 5: Fergal Brady; and City Council Post 6: Dan Merkel.   • Creek View Elementary School wants to thank Papa Johns for providing dinner to teachers during Curriculum Night. It was a delicious dinner that made the evening easier for the teachers. (Creek View Elementary School PTA via Facebook)
  • It's time to apply to the City of Alpharetta for the upcoming Scarecrow Harvest. Applications are due on Friday, Sept. 8. (City of Alpharetta Recreation, Parks, Cultural Services via Facebook)
  • Streets around Alpharetta's City Hall will be closed Friday, Sept. 8 while crews install equipment on the building's roof. The affected areas "are Commerce Street and the portion of Park Plaza between the entrance to the Alpharetta Library / municipal parking deck to just south of Academy Street."
