- Are you interested in running to become Alpharetta's mayor or to sit on City Council? You must file your paperwork to the City Clerk's office on Aug. 21-23 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. It costs $900 to run for mayor and $450 to run for City Council. Council Posts 4, 5, and 6 are on this year's ballot. - Are you familiar with the Great Southeast Pollinator Census? It will take place on Aug. 18-19. If you're interested in participating, download this sheet https://gsepc.org/., go outside and watch a pollinator plant for 15 minutes. "Pollinators include bumble bees, honeybees, carpenter bees wasps, flies, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, and plenty of other insects." Record your count, and upload the results back into the website. The results are used by the University of Georgia to learn about populations, diversity and other information. (City of Milton)
- On Sunday, Aug. 13, a man drowned in a pond in Sandy Springs near Roswell Road. The man's body was found floating in a detention pond in the afternoon. The man hasn't been identified and officials haven't provided details on what caused the drowning. (WSB Atlanta)

- Tai Chi classes start soon in Milton; there are ones for both beginner and advanced levels. Classes are held at the Community Center at Milton City Park and Preserve on Monday mornings. Here is a link to sign up www.miltonga.gov/Registration and click the "Tai Chi" tab. (City of Milton)
- Fire Corps in Alpharetta, Milton and Sandy Springs had a "multi-city high rise fire exercise" together recently. Sandy Springs led the groups, and they were able to learn about each department's capabilities and equipment. (City of Alpharetta)
- Now that school has started, summer camp has ended. Campers in Alpharetta had a lot of fun, made new friends, learned skills and had adventures. There are many new activities available to children; here is a link: bit.ly/RecActivityGuidesLink. (City of Alpharetta)
