Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Police are searching for a thief who altered a check stolen from a mailbox in Milton. The victim reportedly wrote a check for $799 as a payment on her credit card account. Later, in June, her bank notified her that the check had been made out to an unnamed person for over $20,000. Police are still investigating the case. (Appen Media)
- A hole opened in the middle of I-75 on Saturday. According to authorities, I-75 in Marietta at the Canton Road Connector was closed overnight while crews worked to fix the large hole in the highway. The road was re-opened on Sunday and is now safe for drivers. (CBS 46 News)
- A missing DeKalb County teen was found safe after an amber alert was issued on Saturday. According to police, 15-year-old Ta'Niaya King was kidnapped by 22-year-old Dana Utley. The amber alert was issued at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ta'Niaya was found at about 10:00 p.m. Saturday evening, and the amber alert was canceled. - A six-lot subdivision has been approved by the Alpharetta City Council. The council approved the zoning changes necessary for the subdivision at a recent public hearing. The subdivision will be constructed by Madewell Homes and will feature six lots of single-family homes. The location is on Webb Bridge Road. - The Georgetown Gateway water main realignment work on Chamblee Dunwoody Road will continue today. Officials say that this may result in a water outage in the area. The project is underway between Cotillion Road and Chancery Road. Work is planned to take up to four hours today, barring any unforeseen circumstances. (On Common Ground News)
