- The City of Alpharetta is searching for an experienced events management company to run next year's Taste of Alpharetta. This event will occur on May 9, and typically has 45,000 attendees. The management company will be responsible for financial management, marketing, logistics, sponsors, and much more. (Subscription - The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Would you like to honor a City of Milton employee for going above and beyond? The city is collecting nominations for its “Core Value Awards.” You can nominate someone by filling out this form: http://www.miltonga.gov/i-want-to/honor-a-city-employee. The deadline for applications is 10 a.m. Sept. 21. The winners will be honored at a ceremony. Last year's winners came from "Police, Fire, Finance, Parks and Recreation, and Community Development departments." (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
- Alpharetta is looking for an artist to seal and paint a piano that will be placed at Cogburn Park at 12825 Cogburn Road. It will be accessible to everyone in our area. If you're interested in applying, you must be least 18 and submit three views which can be sketched or painted. Digital samples of existing art should be included as well. This project is being sponsored by a partnership between nonprofit Play Me Again Pianos and Alpharetta Parks, Recreation and Cultural Service. (Subscription - The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The Alpharetta Fire Department will be conducting its annual inspection of fire hydrants in the city from now through November. If you have one in your yard, please clear out any brush around it. Also, report any leaks or damaged hydrants. During this time, you may see changes in your water pressure and some discoloration, which can be cleared by running your water. - A former employee of OMS 360, located in Alpharetta, has been arrested for embezzling. Cristi Hanniford allegedly stole $200,000 while employed there. The company hired a third-party investigator to determine what happened. (WSB Atlanta)
- Are you interested in having a fun evening and supporting suicide prevention? There will be a Sowing Seeds of Hope Concert at Matildas Music Under the Pines, located in Milton, next Friday, Sept. 15. The band will be Slippery When Wet, a Bon Jovi tribute band.
