- Are you interested in taking Zumba this fall? Check out “Bombay Jam"; the music is "hot Bollywood tracks and American Top 40 hits" and it's a great workout. The class starts this week on Thursdays at Milton City Park and Preserve's Community Center (1785 Dinsmore Road). It costs just $40 for Milton residents for five sessions. You can also sign up for individual classes. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
- Here is a list of who's running for election in Milton this fall. Carol Cookerly (incumbent) is running against Helen Gordon for City Councilmember District 1, Post 2. Doug Hene is running for City Councilmember District 2, Post 2, and Phillip Cranmer is running against Rick Mohrig (incumbent) for City Councilmember District 3, Post 2. You can apply now for an absentee ballot for this election with this link: https://www.miltonga.gov/govern.../elections/absentee-voting.
- Construction is beginning on three walls to protect Alpharetta's Town Green from cars driving on Main Street. It is scheduled to be completed by the first week in October, and there is a temporary chain link fence in place. Young children love to play on the Green and the walls will prevent them from running into the street. (City of Alpharetta)
- Did you know that Alpharetta's 911 operators are trained to help expectant mothers who are in labor? Over the weekend, Communications Supervisor Paul Miller helped a mother who gave birth, just as help arrived. Later that day, supervisor Heath Stolton spoke to another woman whose baby was crowning, just as help arrived. They delivered the baby shortly afterwards. Both deliveries went well, and the babies plus their moms were brought to the hospital. (City of Alpharetta)
