Dorsey Named Dean of UGA's Franklin College of Arts and Sciences

Jere Morehead, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost recently announced the appointment of Alan T. Dorsey as the new dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at UGA.

Dorsey is currently the associate dean for natural sciences and mathematics and professor of physics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida. Dorsey will assume his new position on July 1.

“The Franklin College plays a very central role in the university’s teaching, research and public service programs, so I am certainly pleased that Dr. Dorsey has agreed to serve as dean,” Morehead state in a press release. “His considerable experience as a faculty member, researcher and administrator made him an excellent choice for this important position.”
