• Financing approved for second phase of Athens downtown housing (onlineathens.com) — A $65 million financing deal has cleared the way for construction of The Square at NoDA, adding 146 apartments plus retail and community space just blocks from downtown Athens. Backed by $39 million in SPLOST funds from Athens-Clarke County, the project continues the redevelopment of the former Bethel Homes site and expands a public‑private partnership aimed at long-term local housing needs. 
• Snow in Georgia: Flurries in far North Georgia, frigid temperatures elsewhere (fox5atlanta.com) — Bundle up, Athens: Thursday morning’s wind chills could feel as low as 18 degrees here, with even colder readings in the North Georgia mountains. While only far North Georgia may see light snow, the bigger story is a brief but dangerous cold snap before temperatures rebound to normal by Friday.
