Regina Quick Holds Narrow Lead Over Doug McKillip as Election Day Ends
Unofficial returns show Quick as the leader in the 117th District Georgia House race.
Regina Quick, who challenged Democrat-turned-Republican Doug McKillip for his newly drawn state House seat in the 117th District, clung to a narrow lead as midnight approached in the July 31 Republican primary.
The Georgia Secretary of State's election results website showed Quick with 3,686 votes to McKillip's 3,622, a 64-vote margin, with all four counties in the district reporting. The district includes a large chunk of Athens-Clarke County, plus portions of Oconee, Barrow and Jackson.
The results were unofficial and did not include provisional ballots.

Quick's lead was largely due to a strong performance among Clarke County voters, where she received 1,979 votes to McKillip's 1,177. McKillip won more votes than Quick in each of the other three counties.
