We Like Ike @ Night
With all the new watering holes in Normaltown, Ike @ Night is a welcome addition.

Things look different at night. Lights come on, shadows disappear. Hard edges fall away.
And some places become unrecognizable. One of my daughters, for example, didn't believe we were at Ike and Jane the other weekend evening. Because we weren't, really. We were on the side, eating supper at Ike@Night.
Behind the patio is a little window where you order and retrieve your food. And what's the food? Hamburgers (Ike, Normal and Kids These Days), Hotdogs (Jane, Chili, Veggie)Â Frito Pie (Fritos covered by chili and cheese), Grilled Veggies and Hummus, and of course, chips. Plus, there are Dolla Desserts that change nightly. All of them sound yummy.
The food isn't fancy, but it's fine at night. My daughter enjoyed her hot dog and loved my Frito Pie even more. (Family members at home loved their hamburgers, though I would suggest you tell them no sauce if you're buying for a child.) If you feel like splurging, get a glass-bottled, real-sugared, Hecho en Mexico Coca-Cola for $2.50, the same price as a delicious cup of hot chocolate. I didn't want to risk such a potent mixture on my daughter, not at night.
It was fun for us to eat at one of the tables and watch the cars passing on Prince Avenue. Have you realized that almost all new cars are one of five colors? White, black, champagne, silver or gun metal. With an occasional yellow or run truck thrown in.
While we were sitting outside, friends who live in Normaltown passed by on Prince. We called to them, and they came and talked for a while. Though they live two blocks from Ike @ Night, they didn't know it was open. By now, I'm sure they've been.
Ike @ Night is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 6 to 10pm.
