The Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services will begin registration for its youth basketball program in November.
The program, for ages 6 – 13, is geared toward beginning to intermediate levels of basketball play. Children must be 6 years old prior to January 1, 2015 to register. Games and practices are held at East Athens Community Center and Lay Park. Games take place on Friday or Saturday. Practices are conducted Monday through Thursday and begin January 6, 2015.
Registration is accepted at Bishop Park, 705 Sunset Drive, East Athens Community Center, 400 McKinley Drive, Lay Park located at 297 Hoyt Street, and Athens Clarke County Tennis Center at 4460 Lexington Road.
Bishop Park registration for Athens-Clarke County residents begins Saturday, November 8 from 9:00 a.m. - noon and continues for ACC residents, Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Additionally, registration is accepted for ACC residents at East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, and The Athens Clarke County Tennis Center on Saturday, November 8 from 9:00 a.m. – noon. and continues daily from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Registration for non-residents begins Wednesday, November 12 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Bishop Park and daily from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at East Athens Community Center and Lay Park.. Registration ends December 12 or when teams are full.
The program fee is $65 for ACC residents and $98 for Non-ACC residents. Parents who wish to apply for an ACC Leisure Services Scholarship must do so prior to the day of program registration. Information is available at www.athensclarkecounty.com/scholarships.
