17 Atlanta Kroger Stores Offering Rides for COVID Vaccinations

ATLANTA — Now you can get a free or low-cost ride to and from your scheduled COVID-19 vaccination.

The respective health divisions of Kroger and Lyft will provide free or reduced-price rides to one of 164 Kroger grocery stores — including 17 in Atlanta — and five The Little Clinic locations across Georgia.

Lyft Healthcare, Inc., and Kroger Health forged a partnership earlier this month to vaccinate those living in underserved and marginalized communities across America.

“One of the primary goals of our Zero Hunger | Zero Waste bold social impact plan (sic) is to transform Kroger communities and improve health for millions of Americans by 2025,” said Felix Turner, manager of corporate affairs for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Georgia, Eastern Alabama and South Carolina. “We are excited to offer this service to our customers as we help further vaccination efforts and support the communities we serve.”

The partnership will provide free or discounted rides to communities in 31 states and the District of Columbia. People scheduling vaccinations at participating Kroger or The Little Clinic locations will receive a Lyft ride code with their appointment confirmation that will cover about $12 per ride to and from the appointment for both one- and two-dose vaccinations, Lyft officials said.

“Access to reliable transportation represents a major barrier to care for millions of Americans across the country, especially for vulnerable communities,” Lyft Vice President of Healthcare Megan Callahan said. “We’re proud to partner with Kroger Health to address transportation barriers that will support equitable vaccine access for those who need it most.”
