  1. Editor's Correction: This story has been updated to remove language incorrectly indicated that CareSource is a nonprofit. Georgia Health plan, CareSource, announced plans to invest $2.5M into affordable rental housing. Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership, a nonprofit focused on affordable housing, is set to receive the funds which will allow the rehabilitation of 75 single-family homes. The news comes during an influx of luxury apartment developments recently, but not many investments into affordable housing. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. A financial rescue plan is underway for Grady Health System after the announcement of the city's other Level I trauma center will be closing on Nov. 1. With the possibility of an influx of patients at only one city hospital equipped to handle Level I traumas, Georgia officials have begun discussing an aid package of almost $200 million for the hospital. The funding could add an additional 200 beds to the hospital to help offset the closure of Atlanta Medical Center which currently has 460 beds. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens wants the community's input in hiring a permanent Atlanta Police Department chief of police. He said, "Effective 21st century policing requires a diverse group of community voices involved in the search for a permanent Police Chief." Atlanta residents can take the survey and provide their input on the hiring of a police chief here. (Reporter Newspapers)
  4. MARTA's streetcar extension project is moving forward as discussions about the plans were held yesterday evening to update the public. The proposed streetcar extension will run along the BeltLine Eastside Trail and will cross over the BeltLine to share the rail to travel up to Ponce City Market. The streetcar line was estimated to cost $176 million in total. (WSB Atlanta)
  5. The murder trial against law enforcement officers who shot a man 59 times while serving a warrant on behalf of the Atlanta Police Department has been postponed. The trial involves Kristopher Hutchens and Eric Heinze who are charged with shooting and killing Jamarion Robinson. Jury selection was supposed to take place this week but has been postponed until February. (11Alive.com WXIA)
