Here are the top five stories today in Atlanta:

  1. The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced yesterday that 28 teen sex trafficking victims were rescued in August in the metro Atlanta area. The rescues were part of a nationwide sex trafficking operation called Operation Cross Country XII. Agents reported the ages of the teens ranged from 14-17. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak-Biermann's daughter was recently arrested in Forsyth County for DUI. Ariana Zolciak, 20, refused to take a breathalyzer test after showing signs of intoxication after hitting a Ford Focus with her Mercedes at 1:00 a.m. The reality TV star took to Instagram saying, "Ariana was not impaired by any substance, including alcohol or marijuana."   3. Atlanta resident Jerri Lee has escaped from two home fires in the past week. After her home in the Audobon Forest neighborhood was damaged by a fire a week ago, Lee found herself escaping from another fire yesterday at the home she was staying in only a few doors down. No burn injuries were reported at yesterday's fire. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Atlanta's Affordable Housing Strike Force presented projects – and the funds to accompany those projects – at Monday's City Council meeting. Projects on the force's list include 143 Alabama Street, 181 Forsyth Street NW, Grove Park Housing, and more. (Reporter Newspapers)
  5. The Atlanta City Council has voted to approve the leasing of beds at the mostly unused detention center to the Fulton County Sheriff for county inmates. The vote comes after activists have rallied for a social-services center in place of the detention center. The City Council ultimately voted 10-4 to lease 700 beds for four years. (11Alive.com WXIA)
