Atlanta Section 8 administrator accused of fraud (roughdraftatlanta.com) — An Atlanta Housing Authority executive is accused of improperly steering Section 8 rent subsidies and federal COVID-19 relief loans connected to a Fayetteville property tied to her family. Federal prosecutors say she collected tens of thousands meant for low-income renters, while Atlanta Housing policies generally bar staff from such payments. She has pleaded not guilty and was released on bond.
   

2. Atlanta police investigating after 2 found dead on Cooledge Avenue (fox5atlanta.com) — Atlanta police are investigating after a man and woman were found dead during a welfare check at a home on Cooledge Avenue in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood Saturday afternoon. Officers say they are not searching for suspects and report no threat to the public, but have not yet released the victims’ names or how they died.
   

3. Mayor Dickens Names New City Attorney (atlantadailyworld.com) — Atlanta residents will see a key change at City Hall as Mayor Andre Dickens appoints Atlanta native Marquetta J. Bryan as the new City Attorney, succeeding Patrise Perkins-Hooker. Bryan brings more than 20 years of legal experience and a stated commitment to integrity, accountability, and training the next generation of attorneys to guide Atlanta through its next phase of growth.
   

4. ‘God is so good to me:' DeKalb County woman celebrates 103rd birthday (atlantanewsfirst.com) — In a feel-good moment for metro Atlanta, 103-year-old Lillie Mae Hightower celebrated her birthday with a parade organized by DeKalb County deputies and McDonough first responders. Family members say her lifelong kindness, community ties, and strong family love keep her going and offer a timely reminder to cherish our elders this holiday season.
