300+ Flights Delayed At Atlanta Airport Amid Snowstorm
Hundreds of flights were either delayed or canceled Tuesday at the Atlanta airport as Georgians battled a snowstorm.
ATLANTA, GA — Nearly 400 flights were delayed, and at least 200 flights were canceled, Tuesday at Atlanta's airport as a second snowstorm arrived in Georgia.
State officials on Tuesday warned traveling on the roadways may be challenging, but the freezing weather is seemingly causing backups at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Atlanta Airport.
FlightAware data showed there were 390 delays and 234 cancelations at the local airport shortly after 4 p.m. The number of cancelations steadily climbed Tuesday afternoon.

Delta Air Lines had the most flight impacts, with 262 delays and 89 cancelations. Endeavor Air and Southwest Airlines closely followed.

The Transportation Security Administration told WSB-TV that travelers waited at least two hours for their flights. More than 90,000 people were expected to pass through security checks a day after the NCAA College Football Playoff Championship was held in Atlanta.
Delta provided waivers to travelers who booked flights to, from and through Atlanta between Monday and Tuesday due to the wintry weather. Tickets must be reissued by Friday, Delta said.
Snow began to fall in central Georgia early afternoon, the National Weather Service's Peachtree City office reported.
Georgia officials said the storm could be a statewide event that may have lasting impacts for multiple days.
Drivers were advised to stay off of the roads so they could be treated.
