8 GA Towns Ranked Among Best Places to Live In America

Niche reported analyzing thousands of communities to compile this year's ranking. See which Georgia towns made the national top 100.

GEORGIA — Eight Georgia communities are among the Best Places to Live in America in 2025, according to a new ranking from Niche released Monday.

Now in its 11th year, the ranking from the data-driven platform Niche helps everyone from young people just starting their careers or families to retirees decide where they want to live. The report analyzes places of various sizes, including cities with populations of 100,000 or more, suburbs and neighborhoods.

In Georgia, the following communities and towns were among the top 100 on the national list:

  • Atlantic Station community, No. 2: The Atlanta neighborhood garnered top grades across housing, public schools, nightlife, diversity, jobs, commute, outdoor activities and health and fitness. Niche also deemed Atlantic Station good for families and reported the area has a population of 3,351.
  • Midtown Atlanta, No. 8: With 28,609 residents, Midtown is the second-best neighborhood in Atlanta, Niche reported. Midtown received A grades in public schools, jobs and outdoor activities.
  • Johns Creek, No. 10: Niche deemed Johns Creek, which has 82,115 residents, the best suburb to live in Georgia. Johns Creek secured mostly As on its Niche report card, including in the categories of good for families and housing.
  • Alpharetta, No. 33: Alpharetta is the second-best suburb to live in Georgia, Niche reported. The Fulton County town is top-rated in nightlife, diversity, good for families and health and fitness.
  • Morningside/Lenox Park community, No. 39: The third best neighborhood to live in Atlanta, Morningside/Lenox Park “offers residents an urban suburban mix feel and most residents own their homes,” Niche stated in its report. The population stood at 11,194, and health and fitness were among some of Morningside/Lenox Park’s high scores.
  • Buckhead Village community, No. 51: The Atlanta area, with 2,658 residents, boasts some of the best public schools and nightlife scenery, according to the rating. The median home value in Buckhead Village is $418,000.
  • Buckhead Forest community, No. 75: Nearly 3,000 people call Buckhead Forest home. The Atlanta neighborhood, while receiving a C+ for cost of living, notched top grades for commute, health and fitness, jobs and public schools.
  • Lake Claire community, No. 76: Niche reported Lake Claire, a population of 4,483 residents, is the overall best place to raise a family in Atlanta. Outdoor activities and nightlife in Lake Claire seem to be among the best in America.

The rankings are based on a wide range of public data sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, combined with millions of resident reviews.

Niche reported analyzing thousands of communities to compile this year’s ranking. Community attributes considered in developing the list included the health of the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools and walkability, among others. (More on methodology.)

According to the ranking, the five best places to live in the United States are: Colonial Village, VA; Atlantic Station, GA; Chesterbrook, PA; Harbour Island, FL; City Center, CA.
