  1. Ahmaud Arbery's mother will speak in Atlanta on the 3rd anniversary of her son's murder. Wanda Cooper-Jones will again mark the annual date by speaking about Arbery's legacy in Atlanta. Cooper-Jones founded the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation in her son’s memory, which will be awarded scholarships to students at his alma mater, Brunswick High School, where Arbery graduated in 2012. Ahmaud Arberry (25) had been jogging through a Glynn County neighborhood when he was shot to death on Feb. 23, 2020. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  2. A divided Atlanta might find unity at brunch on Sunday. Senate Bill 17, aka the Brunch Bill, passed the Georgia General Assembly five years ago, allowing alcohol sales at restaurants starting at 11 a.m. on Sundays (previously, diners had to wait till 12:30.) Mike Jordan of Atlanta Magazine contends that opponents of the bill fail to realize the power of brunch culture or to bring people together. (Atlanta Magazine)
  3. Four children and multiple others escaped on Tuesday evening after a fire ripped through a two-story northwest Atlanta home. Authorities responded to 810 Woods Dr. after reports of a fire at a home around 6:21 p.m. No injuries were reported. (Atlanta News First)
  4. A TikTok trend has forced car manufacturers to make changes after a rise in thefts across metro Atlanta. Videos on the social media platform show thieves how to steal certain Kia and Hyundai vehicles. So far this year, the Atlanta Police Department says there is a nearly 500 percent increase compared to last year's seven-week period. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  5. Mentorship during residency helps elementary mathematics specialists succeed, according to a new study. Georgia State Professor Susan Auslander and alumnus Kayla Myers co-authored a study in the Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education on the effectiveness of elementary mathematics specialist endorsement programs. Their study demonstrated that mentorship programs during residency strongly supported the three main elements of becoming a successful elementary mathematics specialist: mathematics content knowledge, teaching practices, and leadership knowledge and skills.
