Police centered their search around the Mechanicsville neighborhood and close to Ralph D. Abernathy Boulevard, where the suspect last struck.
"We do believe that based on the last three incidents that he is in the area or close by," Maj. Adam Lee said in a news conference broadcast on Facebook Live Wednesday.

The crimes didn't include any home invasions or carjackings, Lee said. "In every case, the victims were out on the street."
The man used a revolver in his attacks, WSB reports.
Catching the suspect became a heightened priority for police as the victims increased in recent days.
"In one case, there's a juvenile and that's another concern, that we have someone underaged," Lee said.
Atlanta police put the suspect's sketch on social media numerous times, hoping that someone would recognize him.
"We want to implore the public to take a good look at this sketch and call Crime Stoppers, call the police department, call 911 if you have to. We just need to get this person off the streets," he said.
