ATLANTA, GA —An active weekend of gun violence injured 29 people and killed two others, Atlanta Police said Monday. One of the shootings injured 10 people and killed one.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens spoke at a news conference, announcing 12 unrelated shootings in one weekend in the city.

"When I look at what connected them, they played out throughout various parts of the city but none of us connected the other, other than individuals had guns and they were angry," Schierbaum said.
Later, he added: "We know triggers were pulled. We don't know why triggers were pulled."

Three of the shootings happened along Edgewood Avenue, police said.
The most recent shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 340 block of Edgewood, where bars are present.
The shooting killed a person and injured seven males and three females, including an 18-year-old man who is in critical condition, Schierbaum said. Guns and 34 shell casings were recovered from the scene, he said.
Three males and a female, ages and descriptions unknown, are being sought in connection with the shooting, Schierbaum said.
Two other shootings took place at Edgewood: one around midnight Monday in the 400 block, when a male was shot in his foot, and another on Monday when a male was shot during a dispute about a car being booted in the 360 block, police said. For the latter, police said they are seeking the suspect's vehicle, a black Jeep Renegade with a Missouri tag.
Other shootings were linked to dating and domestic violence incidents, and a nephew fatally shot his uncle, Schierbaum said.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old from Cobb County were injured in an Airbnb party shooting at Chapel Road, Schierbaum said. They are expected to survive.
"Gun violence affects every citizen of Atlanta regardless of what neighborhood you live in or where you are," he said.
Some of those who were shot were being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital, while others have since been released from the hospital, Dickens said.
Police are seeking the public's assistance in providing video or information related to the mass shooting. Schierbaum said he anticipates releasing video footage connected to the shooting.
"We know there's a vibrant nightlife scene there, so you if you saw something, you should say something," Dickens said. "This is directly to the public. We encourage you. If you see something, say something because we know that there were enough people out there that could've given us some indication of what happened."
Dickens noted it has been about two years since Atlanta has had a violent weekend such as the one that recently occurred.
Police are working to combat violence before it happens, including spearheading Operation Heatwave, he said. Operation Heatwave is an initiative that targets areas of high-drug activity and gun violence.
The mayor's office employs an Office of Violence Reduction and a nightlife division to stay abreast of happenings in the streets and to provide training and resources, Dickens said.
Anyone with information in the shootings should call (404) 577-8477, Schierbaum and Dickens said.
