Atlanta Opera To Perform 'The Barber of Seville' at Fort Mac
This one-time event is the Opera's first performance in southwest Atlanta.

ATLANTA -- Fort Mac LRA and ARTlanta have teamed up with the Atlanta Opera to bring “The Barber of Seville” to the ARTlanta Stained Gallery at Fort Mac. In its first performance in Southwest Atlanta, the Atlanta Opera will treat families to a FREE performance on February 9, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A bilingual version of Rossini’s delightful and energetic “The Barber of Seville,” this performance was created by stage director Kristine McIntyre. The 45-minute adaptation will be performed in Spanish and English, and will demonstrate the power of love to triumph over adversity of every kind.
“We are thrilled that the Atlanta Opera is bringing its first-ever performance in Southwest Atlanta to the Fort Mac community,” said Fort Mac LRA Executive Director Brian Hooker. “We are inspired by the incredible interest the Atlanta art community has shown in Fort Mac and look forward to offering many more unique and invigorating experiences here.”

Due to limited seating and high demand for this FREE performance, guests must RSVP and pick up a physical ticket at Stained Gallery at 1719 Sayers Street SW Atlanta, Ga. 30310. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with pick up beginning on January 21 and concluding on February 1. Pick up times are between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Patrons are limited to two adult and two children tickets.

Fort McPherson is a former Army post situated southwest of Atlanta between two MARTA transit stations, and a 10-minute drive from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

On June 26, 2015, Fort Mac LRA became the owner of 145 acres of property on the former fort, while a world-class film and television studio are currently under construction on the adjoining 330 acres. Fort Mac LRA is also known as the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority, a local government authority created by the state of Georgia, entrusted with catalyzing growth in the community and ensuring quality reuse and redevelopment.
Its board of directors—nominated by the Mayor of Atlanta, the Fulton County Commission or the Governor of Georgia—provide leadership as the LRA is broadly empowered to utilize a number of incentives and financing tools to enable investment, facilitate job training and housing rehabilitation programs, and otherwise work to achieve the economic development mandate.
