Attention, Atlantans: Your $1 May Be Worth $10K In Promotion

Atlanta among cities that will be participating in Ally Financial's 'Working Dollar' promotion, with 1 bills worth $100, $5,000 and $10,000.

ATLANTA, GA — For Atlantans summer, that dollar bill in your pocket could actually be worth a pretty penny. A Michigan-based holding company is putting $1 bills worth $100, $5,000 and $10,000 in the general circulation of Atlanta and 14 other cities. The windfall is part of Ally Financial's “Hardest Working Dollar” promotion.

The company, which is known for sensational promotions, says consumers will have a hand in selecting a 15th city by using social media to circulate the hashtag #HardestWorkingDollar in July, according to a press release. The contest is already underway in New York, San Fran, Cleveland and Detroit. Other cities can expect to be added in the coming weeks, the company said.

Ally Financial said that the money will be circulated into the city via an anonymous “dollar dropper” who will spend $7,500 in each city in convenience stores, coffee shops and similar places. Of those dollar bills, 150 will be worth $100, six will be worth $5,000 and one will be worth $10,000.
